Popie Runs is about the joy of living, being as healthy and as vital as you can be. "Papa" is the term we use in our family for Grandfather and is typically followed by the given name of the particular grandfather. "Papamikie" refers to me, Grandfather Michael. We have shortened the name to Popie (Pop ee).
In 2008 I began a journey to loose a bit of weight and get into better shape. Somewhere along the way I became a runner, and then a Chi Runner. I also changed my eating, became a Tai Chi Chuan player, a practitioner of Qigong, and a certified Chi Running and Chi Walking instructor.
Popie Runs is the name of my site, because, running was so central to many of the changes that have happened in my life since that time, and my other practices evolved out of running. This site will be my attempt to share many of the things I have learned along the way, both before 2008 and after.
I have done many things through the course of my life, but my two primary career activities were counseling and computer support. My current goal is to bring together my accumulated learning, my practices toward healthy and vital lifestyle and my many years of experience working with people to help them discover ways to live more vital lives.
May 2008 My Daughter said, "Popie, Gramie and I have been worried about you, and I think `Little Bug` needs to have you around for a while..."
This became like a snow ball rolling down a steep hill, it turned into an avalanche.
